Here’s why JUNE KRISE supports reproductive rights for North Georgia women:
The Georgia Republican abortion ban puts women’s health at risk. The Savannah Morning News reports that Kemp’s ban could hamper women’s access to life-saving treatment for miscarriages. “Women could be investigated if there are questions about whether they miscarried or had an illegal abortion.”
The ban could also force doctors and women to live under constant fear of investigation or criminal prosecution, and intensify stress on rural Georgia’s health care system.
I support investing in safe pregnancies, maternal healthcare, rural hospitals and the recruitment of physicians statewide—especially in under-served areas and the 82 counties that have no OB-GYN. I will also work to repeal Brian Kemp’s extreme and dangerous ban on abortion after six weeks.

WHY I’M RUNNING TO PROTECT WOMEN’S HEALTH IN THE GEORGIA LEGISLATURE
After a career as a registered nurse, health care advocate, and active supporter of human rights causes, I want to give back to my colleagues, friends, and neighbors. I seek to improve access to healthcare, and education, protect the environment, and promote the arts. My priorities also include expanding tourism, guaranteeing equal rights, and common sense criminal justice reform.
My background and accomplishments qualify me to accomplish these legislative goals. I have served as President of the 9th District Democratic Women, and I am currently the Chair of the 9th Congressional District. My experiences in healthcare, as a small business owner, and as a consultant to many people in community care have allowed me to learn the skills of executive management. Those skills include clear communication, information transfer, team-building, cooperation, and negotiation that underlie the processes of developing and passing legislation.

Vision, Issues, & Values
Healthcare
I seek to improve access to HEALTHCARE — especially for the blind, the disabled, the elderly, and mothers and babies. Georgia ranks 44th out of 50 in infant mortality in the US. We should expand the waivers that assist the elderly find housing and personal care, help fight addiction, and support rural hospitals.
Education
I will support our wonderful teachers and students in North Georgia’s excellent public schools by emphasizing dual enrollment and vocational options, and returning the full HOPE scholarships which provides affordable access to technical schools and colleges.
Environment
I seek to protect our ENVIRONMENT through common-sense legislation to ensure clean air and water, protection for our mountains, and HIGH-SPEED INTERNET so we can continue to attract environmentally-friendly businesses and prepare our children for technology and education in their future.
Prison Reform
We have more than 100,000 people in jails and prisons across Georgia, and more than 400,000 on probation. That’s more than twice the rate of the rest of the country! We are spending more than twice as much (per person) each year on people in prison ($20,000) as we do on kids in school ($9,000).
Infrastructure
President Biden has delivered a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s aging infrastructure. June has been an unwavering supporter of the President because our communities deserve access to safe drinking water, high-speed internet, and a cleaner environment.
Equal Rights
The Equal Rights Amendment says: “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.” Who could be against that? Pay discrimination is rooted in how society has valued (or failed to value) work traditionally done by women. This is a much bigger problem to solve; legislation alone can’t necessarily fix this, but leaders can and should speak about this “value gap” and suggest ways to change how we value work.
